Hi everyone! I hope your week is going well. I can’t wait to tell you all about the awesome time I had last Wednesday at the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company store. Third graders from P.S. 39 came to meet me, along with my good friend Spider-Man. We talked about the importance of emergency preparedness, which includes having meeting places, important phone numbers, an emergency Go Bag and a stay-at-home kit. I had some volunteers help me because as it turns out, my Go Bag had a few things in it that probably should have stayed at home. See below: Pineapple & Rubber Chicken.
Instead of those items, we talked about what SHOULD be in a GO Bag, which includes some of the following:
- Flashlight and batteries
- water and canned/nonperishable food and snacks
- Radio
- NYC Emergency Management Reference Card
- Toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and shampoo
- Change of clothes and PJs
- Favorite book
- Favorite game
- Clean socks
- Blanket
- First Aid Kit
What are some items that you have in your Go Bag? Write them down below! I use an old backpack to put my supplies in. Oh, and did I mention that when all of the right items are in my bag, it helps me fly? More on that later…
